This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect information when you access or use the Service.

By creating an account, checking an "I agree" box, or otherwise using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy and consent to the collection, use, disclosure, and retention of your personal information as described here, except where consent is not required or cannot be relied upon under applicable law. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

This Privacy Policy forms part of, and should be read together with, our Terms and Conditions. 1. Who this policy applies to

This policy applies to anyone who visits, registers for, or uses the Service. The Service is designed for adults who want to discover friends, friends-of-friends, and trusted networks for real-world activities such as events, hangouts, sports, and social plans.

Age requirement. The Service is intended only for individuals who are 18 years of age or older. We do not permit individuals under 18 to register for or use the Service. If we learn that a user is under 18, we may suspend or delete the account and delete associated personal information as permitted by law. If you believe a user is under 18, please report them through in-app reporting tools or contact us.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without appropriate authorization, we will take steps to delete it promptly.

2. Information we collect

The information we collect depends on how you use the Service. You choose what to provide in many cases, but some information is required to create an account or use certain features.

Account and authentication. When you register or sign in, we collect information such as your email address, phone number (where provided), account identifiers, and authentication credentials processed through Amazon Cognito. If you use social sign-in (such as Google, Facebook, or Apple), we receive profile information made available by that provider (for example, name and email), consistent with your provider settings and permissions.

Profile information. You may provide a display name, photo, age range, gender, pronouns, profession, bio, city or general location, interests, and compatibility questionnaire responses used to improve matching and recommendations within the Service. Some of this information may be considered sensitive or special-category data under applicable law.

Social and activity data. We process information you create or interact with on the Service, including friend connections, connection requests, posts, polls, events, hangouts, communities, reviews, reactions, RSVPs, attendance confirmations, notifications, and direct messages.

Event and real-world activity data. When you create, join, or interact with events, hangouts, or plans, we may collect information such as event title, description, date, time, venue or location, attendee lists, participation status, check-ins (where enabled), and communications related to those activities. This information may be visible to other participants according to your settings and the nature of the activity.

Photos and media. If you upload images or other media (for example, profile photos, post images, or event photos), we store and serve that content through our cloud storage infrastructure.

Location information. With your permission, we may collect device location to show maps, nearby plans, venue selection, and location-aware discovery features. You can also enter location manually (for example, city or address search). We may retain approximate or historical location where needed for safety, fraud prevention, or legal compliance.

Contacts (optional). If you choose to enable contact-based friend discovery, we access phone numbers and/or email addresses from your device contacts only for the purpose of finding people you may know on Three Degrees. Contact identifiers are hashed before matching; we do not store your full contact list as plain text for unrelated purposes. By uploading contact information, you represent that you have obtained any consent required from those contacts.

Identity verification (where enabled). If you use optional identity or photo verification features, we or our service providers may collect verification photos, government-issued identification (where permitted and requested), and related biometric or facial-comparison data to confirm your identity, age, or authenticity. We retain such data only as long as needed for verification, fraud prevention, and legal compliance, as described in Section 6.

Safety, reports, and disputes. We collect information when you report another user, block someone, or contact support about safety concerns, harassment, fraud, or incidents (including incidents that occur at or in connection with real-world events). This may include the content of your report, related messages or posts, account identifiers, and metadata about the reported activity.

Device permissions. Depending on features you use, the app may request access to notifications, camera or microphone, and contacts. You can decline or revoke permissions in your device settings, though some features may not work without them.

Technical, usage, and cookie data. We automatically collect technical information such as device type, device identifiers, operating system, app version, IP address, browser type, language, referring URLs, pages or screens viewed, feature usage, crash logs, and service logs needed to operate, secure, analyze, and troubleshoot the Service. We and our analytics partners may use cookies, SDKs, and similar technologies as described in Section 14.

Information from others. Other users may provide information about you when they send connection requests, invite you to events, mention you in posts, or submit reports involving you. We may also receive information from service providers, fraud-prevention partners, or law enforcement where permitted by law.

3. Legal bases for processing (where applicable)

Depending on where you live, we process personal information on one or more of the following legal bases:

Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time through in-app settings or by contacting us. Withdrawal does not affect processing that occurred before withdrawal, and some features may no longer be available.

4. How we use your information

We use information we collect to:

We may use automated processing, including profiling and machine-learning techniques, to recommend connections, events, or content; detect suspicious behavior; prioritize safety reviews; and improve product performance. These processes are designed to support the Service and user safety and do not produce legal effects about you without human involvement, except where permitted by law (for example, automated fraud blocks that you may contest by contacting us).

5. Content moderation and safety review

To help keep users safe, we use a combination of automated systems and human reviewers to monitor accounts, profiles, posts, messages, event listings, and reports for content or behavior that may violate our Terms, Community Guidelines, or applicable law. This may include review of text, images, metadata, and activity patterns.

If we identify a likely violation, we may warn, restrict, suspend, or permanently ban an account; remove or limit visibility of content; or take other action we deem appropriate. Affected users may contact us to appeal or request more information, subject to legal and safety limitations.

We may retain information relating to moderation decisions, safety investigations, and enforcement actions for as long as necessary to protect users, prevent repeat abuse, comply with law, and defend our rights.

6. Sensitive and special-category information

You may choose to provide information that is sensitive under some laws, such as gender, pronouns, compatibility preferences, health-related interests, or other profile details. You are not required to provide this information, but some features may depend on it.

Where required by law, we process sensitive information only with your explicit consent or another permitted legal basis. You may update or remove much of this information in your profile at any time. We do not use sensitive profile information for third-party advertising.

If you use identity or photo verification, we or our verification providers may process biometric or facial-comparison data solely to verify your identity and prevent fraud. Verification images and related scans are retained only as long as needed for those purposes and legal compliance, typically no longer than three years after your last interaction with us unless a longer period is required for an active investigation, legal hold, or dispute.

7. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in these circumstances:

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, you agree not to bring claims against us solely because we disclosed information in good faith to law enforcement, regulators, or other authorities as described above.

8. Real-world events, hangouts, and offline conduct

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Three Degrees disclaims liability for any such offline conduct or outcomes.

If an incident occurs, you should contact local emergency services or law enforcement where appropriate. We are not obligated to mediate offline disputes between users.

Information you share with other users (including event details, phone numbers, or meeting locations) is shared at your own discretion. We are not responsible for how other users use information you choose to disclose.

9. Your responsibilities and indemnification

You agree that you will:

You are responsible for all activity under your account, including if you share your password or device access with others. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately and change your password.
